Therapy at KMA Therapy in Toronto

Therapy is a process that is designed to provoke lasting change in our lives.

Through weekly sessions, we gain a greater sense of peace, understanding of the world we live in, and greater resolution of our issues. Here at KMA Therapy in Toronto, we offer a variety of therapies designed to help you achieve your well-being and personal goals.


Your first therapy session

Your goals for therapy will be largely based on what you tell us during your intake session, where we’ll likely ask some of the following questions:

  • Why does therapy seem like the right choice for you? Why now?
  • What are the things going on in your life right now that have led youto KMA Therapy?
  • What personal, professional, or relationship goals would you like toachieve in therapy?

In your first therapy session, we will also be asking lots of questions to get a sense of your personality, and to choose the therapist who will be the right fit for you.

Different therapy types

Certain therapies like Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychoanalytic Therapy are well known in mainstream culture (think Freud on the couch!), while others are less known but also very effective.

Examples of these are Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Adlerian Therapy. All of these types of therapy can be started here in Toronto at our offices at Yonge and Eglinton.

Investing in therapy

While therapy might seem like a large investment of time and finances, it is important to remember that the most important investment is in your life!

There might be people in your life who think that “therapy” is a shameful or embarrassing, and they try to make you feel bad for needing help. However, it’s never shameful to ask for help when you need it.

In our therapy offices, you’ll find a pleasant, open, and relaxed vibe that is non-judgmental and where we all strive to improve ourselves.

Remember: if you had a cavity, you’d likely visit a dentist. If you have a relationship, career, stress, anxiety, or family issue, seeking therapy is the right thing to do.

Most of our clients find they feel better when they tackle things that are holding them back in the present, rather than allowing the issues to progress and get worse, which can end up in further emotional instability and even physical sickness.
